Our New Video Public Service Announcement for 2008What's NewNew tuition amounts for 2008 are posted on the School Donation Page. As of July, 7 2007, we are accepting donations online. For more information about our online donations or other ways to donate to Kenya KEEP, check out our Donations page! February 2007, Melvin Stringer went on a fact finding mission in Kenya. He visited 8 schools and spent time talking with teachers and students about a range of topics including academics, student needs and school needs. More detailed information will be available in the coming days, so check back often. In the meanwhile, you can see some of the locations, schools and students he visited while in Kenya on our Photos page. Please visit our Schools and Student section. Even though this area is still under construction, you can view a map of Kenya showing the locations of the Kenya KEEP supported schools, along with some great pictures, historical information, programs and goals of these schools. Our PurposeKenyan education is based on an 8-4-4 system: eight years in primary school, four years in secondary and four in tertiary education. The Kenyan education system is severely under funded. Most of the well-equipped and successful schools are private, expensive, often aimed at international or ex-patriot children, or are concentrated in the big cities. In Primary and Secondary education, the standard of schools varies enormously from the aforementioned well-funded and well-equipped schools, to the desperately under-equipped and under-staffed schools which Kenya KEEP is helping. Secondary education in Kenya is extremely expensive and only the privileged can afford to attend. Currently, the majority of poor Kenyans do not go beyond primary school. Kenya KEEP’s mission is achievable through the use of private donations and sponsorships. Through your generous contributions we provide sustainable relief including tuition, basic educational tools, resources, food and materials. , We assist with whatever is necessary to help people in need help themselves. We are operational in these areas with a minimum of overhead and expense by using on site, local volunteers and support whenever possible. We have approximately 60 sponsored students and 6 schools we are working with. Organization ProfileIn September 2006, the Kenya Kids Educational Enrichment Project (Kenya KEEP), a non-profit tax exempt organization, was founded to address the educational and humanitarian needs of children and schools in Kenya, Africa. Kenya KEEP is able to provide these services through personal donations.
