Secretary's Message

Jambo!

My wife and I sponsor a child in Kenya. So when the opportunity to travel to Kenya in the Summer of 2006 presented itself, I did not hesitate. First of all, I always want to travel and tour Africa, so for me, this was a trip of a lifetime, and then being able to visit our sponsored child was a bonus!

Before I left, I had my preconceived expectations of what is would be like, but the trip was far more rewarding and was so much more than I had ever anticipated. The country and the people were amazing, but the turning point for me was when we visited the children and the schools.

I was the "unofficial photographer" for our trip and when I snapped the first picture of the children, I was hooked. In the midst of all the poverty, I saw so much hope and promise in the eyes of these kids. It was overwhelming.  As we visited more schools and students (plus our sponsored child), I knew from that point forward, my outlook on life would never be the same. While we were still in Kenya, I spoke to Melvin and Agnes about what more could we do, and that is when the idea for KenyaKEEP was born.

It seems that my trip of a lifetime turned into one of those rare, life changing moments. I sincerely hope you can help us with our mission and make a "life changing moment" for one of these children.

Take a look around, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Warm Regards,
John Girouard
