   General Donations

Your donation of any amount will help Kenya KEEP with all aspects of its mission. A donation to our general fund allows us to address the area with the most need at the time we receive the donation.

   Nets to prevent Malaria

Malaria is a mosquito-borne disease caused by a parasite. People with malaria often experience fever, chills, and flu-like illness. Left untreated, they may develop severe complications and die. Each year 350-500 million cases of malaria occur worldwide, and over one million people die, most of them young children in sub-Saharan Africa. This sometimes fatal disease can be prevented and cured. Bed nets, insecticides, and anti-malarial drugs are effective tools to fight malaria in areas where it is transmitted.  (http://www.cdc.gov/malaria/)

At KenyaKEEP, we are committed to helping these children by supplying them with bed nets. Our goal is to raise $5,460 so that 910 beds will be covered with mosquito netting which will help prevent that many students from contracting Malaria.  So far 34 have been purchased and we have just received a donation that will purchase another 22.

A donation of $54.60 will help to purchase 5 mosquito nets.

SCHOOL and STUDENT SPONSORSHIPS

Primary school enrollment in Kenya is less than 60%. And less than 50% of those who attend primary school, moves to secondary school. While the basic literacy and math skills learned in primary school are immensely important, they are not enough to guarantee a reasonable living, and are certainly not sufficient to enable young rural Kenyans to break out of the poverty cycle and to find employment beyond what their parents could find.

Of those who are in school, the challenge is to ensure that these children complete their education, particularly poor children in urban slums, rural areas, and AIDS orphans.

Kenya KEEP aids schools in providing the best educational experience possible by contributing the basic items needed to attain this educational experience.  Your sponsorship and donation can help us to provide tuition, boarding, uniforms, personal items, classroom supplies (pencils, paper, text books, etc...), building supplies and other items as the need arises.

Your sponsorship of a child is the first step to help them stay in school and succeed. Currently, we have approximately 60 sponsored students.

For more information on the schools and students we sponsor, click here or on a school below.

Below is a table outlining the approximate costs of tuition per student per school year.

A primary uniform consists of a dress or a pair of slacks, socks, shoes, and a sweater.

A secondary uniform consists of a dress or a pair of slacks, 2 pair of socks, shoes, tie, a sweater, and a PE uniform.  Costs listed include a uniform.
